Today at Under The Code, SimFBallCritic shares some thoughts and video footage on the trench battle in NCAA Football 14 and what he thinks has been successful in this year’s college football video game.
Football begins and ends in the trenches and for many years this has been an area of concern in EA SPORTS football games. In years past the trenches were hit or miss and it never really felt like you had any control of the outcome. In NCAA Football 14. EA SPORTS has improved the trenches with the addition of more realistic interactions. It’s not perfect by any means and there is room for more development in this area, but the improvements that have been made is a breath of fresh air.
Going forward I would like to see physics, weight, mass, positioning, etc, be a factor to determine the outcome at the line of scrimmage. I do understand that there is only so much that can be done on this current generation of consoles, but as we move on to the future I expect to see leaps and bounds year by year in the new generation of gaming. In the meantime the additions of the new interactions gives the game a more organic look and feel in the trenches. Check out the video below to get a closer look at how the trenches have improved.
What do you think about how the trenches play in this year’s game? What do you like about how the offensive and defensive lines interact? What is still in need of improvement as we prepare to move to next-generation consoles? Let us know your thoughts in the Community Forums here at Under The Code!
